IPC Media produces over 60 iconic media brands, with print alone reaching almost two thirds of UK women and 42% of UK men – almost 26 million UK adults, with a website that brings in 20 million users a month. IPC is a possible contender for my magazine to be published into because even though it is not a major company it publishes magazines such as NME and Uncut, both of these magazines are very large and match the criteria of my magazine.
IPC only holds a few rock/indie magazines and most are aimed at the older audience, because of this it would make it a lot easier for me to gain a place at IPC due to the fact my magazine will be aimed at the younger audience. This will offer IPC with something new to work with. IPC is a large Media company and distributes their work across the world, but they are based in the Uk.
Bauer Media reaches over nineteen million UK adults across multiple media channels.
Bauer Media is a division of the Bauer Media Group, Europe’s largest privately owned publishing Group. The Group is a worldwide media empire offering over 300 magazines in 15 countries, as well as online, TV and radio stations. They are a large media company and can offer many opportunities, this may be an optional company to distribute my magazine from, also Bauer does music magazines such as “Q” and “Kerrang” which are both very similar to my theme and criteria I wish to use for my magazine “Frets”. “Q” and “Kerrang” are both Indie style magazines and “Kerrang” is more rock related, because this is how I wish to make my magazine (Rock/Indie) it will mean competition between my magazine and to Bauer’s already existing music magazines , but it will also offer me the chance to make a niche in my chosen market.
In conclusion I think Bauer would be the company most suited for my magazine, due to it’s large distribution and it’s large range of multi media. Also Bauer holds more magazines relevant to my magazine criteria there for has more experience then IPC Media on advertising for these sorts of products.
